About the Instructor
Hi, I’m Ian Polak-Kime.
I’m an American living in France, and I’ve been teaching English around the world since 2018. I hold a CELTA, a teaching certificate from Cambridge English.
After 8 years of teaching and learning languages, I created Advanced Speakers Online to offer the kind of experience I wished existed — for both students and teachers.
Speaking with a native speaker isn’t enough. You need structure, clear goals, and someone who knows how to guide you.
Not everyone can move abroad to become fluent. I want this to be the next best thing.
What do we do?

Ease into the discussion before diving into a pair and group activities.

Discussions are usually based on a 4-7 minute video we watch twice as a group.
Vocabulary
Learn new words and phrases from the video to speak more clearly and naturally.
Listening Comprehension
Check your understanding of the important information in the video.
Discussion
Talk in pairs and share your ideas about the video’s main topic and key issues.
Speaking Activity
A guided speaking activity to explore new ideas and related topics with a different partner.
Group Activity
Work in a small group to complete a creative task, then share and compare results.
Error Correction
Fix grammar, vocabulary, or sentence mistakes the teacher noticed during your speaking activities.
